Users crossed the domains of Brand, Marketing and Product. Each domain had their distinct style guide. One of them a fiery red feel the other icy blue. As the creative lead of the Exact Design System team I was asked to develop a 'dot on the horizon'. The goal was to connect and inspire the organisation and show how a cross-domain user experience for Exact-wide could look like.
Within a few months, Design Thinking helped me shape a clear product vision. I organised informal monthly reviews for stakeholders, showing our progress and asking for feedback. It let us show our progress and allowed us to make timely adjustments along the way.
Around 550.000 entrepreneurs do their bookkeeping in Exact Online and with the rise of AI bookkeeping will dramatically change in the following years. I interviewed accountants and entrepreneurs with the aim of understanding their needs. The most surprising realisation was that it appeared that starting entrepreneurs have no idea how their business is doing and that they would really like to be able to get accurate data to determine that and then also get advice on how they can improve.
I developed Exact Assist. A digital assistant that advises the entrepreneur how to better run their business.

I tested the product with potential customers. To prove how important a consistent user experience is, I developed a new visual style that overlapped the current brand experience and fitted the new product. I then also applied this same style on other current touch points in the customer journey.
With the help of Microsoft Product Reaction Cards and quantitative research, I validated the new style and brand values. Roughly 800 clients participated in the research and in spite of the status quo (where users prefer the way as it is) the new design scored better on all fronts.

The new style applied to the existing pages of brand, marketing and product.
A promo video was developed to help our story land in the organisation where the goal and the results of the project were made clear in several minutes.

Based on the outcome of the project it was decided that a brand refresh for Exact-wide was needed. This rebranding was carried out by Studio Dumbar and this formed the base for the Exact Design System.
